The “Why” behind “Time and Space” –

July 29, 2010 Lance Drummonds 1 comment

It is 1am and I just finished rehearsing for a show that I’m doing in NY this Sunday at Santos party house at 9pm (shameless plug yes). And amidst my checking how many followers Kanye has and whether or not A-Rod has hit his 600th home run, I received a BBM or a, “blackberry Message” for all you iPhone and Zack Morris cell phone having people out there, from someone stating this:

“Lance, This song, ‘Time and Space’ is getting me so emotional. I have gone through three of the most emotional days I’ve been through in a long time…and when the song started playing it F’in spoke exactly…EXACTLY to what I am going through. It’s incredible that you could write the words and create the mood that is exactly what I’m experiencing. The Harps, the ethereal feeling create a feeling of Vastness… a feeling that there is more beyond this situation. That there’s hope and possibility of a better future…”

As I have said before, if I were to die tomorrow (not to sound morbid), I would want to be remembered by my music and specifically my debut album Time and Space. I know that in today’s age, most artists are ultimately concerned with reaching platinum status or creating that next, “hit,” but moments and messages like these are the moments I strive for. Yes, Of COURSE I want my album to sell well and be received in the highest way, but the REASON I started this album was because of all that I had experienced that COULD RELATE to the majority of people around my age. And more specifically, whenever a tough, daunting, or difficult experience took over, what helped me get through it was MY REFUGE, MY MUSIC. And I wanted to share that refuge with everyone out there who may need one. I wanted to connect to all those who may feel the way that I felt when I sat at the piano to produce the song or discussed the feelings and emotions with my co-writer, or sang just to sing to make myself feel better than I felt. All of these emotions are in this album, high’s and low’s just like life and I promise you, you will relate. I would be lying if I said I did not want a grammy or a platinum record, but to be able to connect with someone to the core through my music is just as valuable and will ultimately allow for great success. Whenever you need a second to breathe or need a place to relate, “time and space” will be here for you.

The Dating Scene Volume XXI: “Death of Mr. ‘Good’ Guy”

What is a “good” single guy to do? When I say “good” I mean a guy who genuinely wants to get to know a beautiful woman, treats her like a gentleman should, possibly get intimate with her (more on this later) but does not want a relationship?  Why is it so difficult for this, “good” guy to reside and function in the Single world? I ran into a few of my boys over the weekend and I noticed that as of late their behavior towards and interaction with women were drastically different from the last time I saw them, a few months ago. One in particular and when I asked him what had changed, the topic of discussion was very interesting and I could completely relate! Let me divulge: Read more…

Inception: The Review

After seeing this movie, the only reason I gave it an 8.9/10 is because I heard SO MUCH HYPE about it and came out feeling like I wanted more than what I got. Having said that, this movie was excellent. Granted there was a lot to follow and pay attention to, especially for the first 45 minutes, and a lot just general from special effects to story lines to understanding the story line to understanding the story line within a story line to understanding the story line within the story line within the story line–*(those who have seen the movie will understand what I mean) but again I thought this movie was great. I always say a movie is excellent when I am fully wrapped around its story and completely believe its characters. And Inception did just that. I am not saying much about the story because those who have not seen it need to go in without knowing anything about it. But the ending, the last moments of the movie GOT ME FEELING PISSED! How can they end it like that, I just wanted to know the truth, was it real or not? DAMN U Film maker!

Lil Kim and DMX – perform together?? (VIDEO)

I was actually kinda surprised to hear/see this. I didn’t know they were still “on the road” like that. I know Lil Kim was working on a new album, but DMX? word ? This was recorded in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Old Skool jam of the day: “D’Angelo – Crusin”

yeah, this is classic. Felt like switching it up and bringing back a few jams that are timeless and that ALWAYS switch up the mood in the atmosphere.
